The Ibadan Lo Mo Indigenous Group has concluded plans to commemorate the 82nd birthday of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba (Senator) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa 1), as well as the first anniversary of his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
As part of the commemoration, the indigenous group, whose members are spread across different parts of the world, has chosen education and charity as the focus of its annual project.
The group will donate educational books to ten schools across Ibadan, with Progressive Primary School, Alaadorin, Ibadan, where the Olubadan had his primary education, listed as one of the major beneficiaries.
The initiative is being organised in honour of the monarch’s 82nd birthday and the first anniversary of his coronation.
The notable social group, led by its President, Mogaji Olarenwaju Isiaq Muhammed (Mogaji Roki), operates under the umbrella of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).
According to the organisers, the decision to focus on charity and education was inspired by the Olubadan’s position that he does not intend to hold a personal celebration for his birthday or coronation anniversary. Instead, the monarch had encouraged those wishing to mark the occasions to pray for him and engage in charitable activities.
In response, the Ibadan Lo Mo Indigenous Group decided to channel its celebration towards supporting education and giving back to the Ibadan community.
The programme is scheduled to commence on Friday, September 25, 2026, which coincides with the Olubadan’s 82nd birthday. Saturday, September 26, will mark the first anniversary of his coronation as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The programme is expected to be led by the President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Barrister Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole (Aare Atunluse of Ibadanland), under the supervision of Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
As part of the exercise, members of the group will visit ten schools across Ibadan to present educational books. Progressive Primary School, Alaadorin, will receive special attention because of its historical connection to the Olubadan.
Following the book donation exercise, members of the group will also pay a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan to honour the monarch and commemorate the significant milestones.
The organisers said the initiative is aimed at celebrating the Olubadan in a meaningful and impactful manner while promoting education, charity, community development and the culture of giving back to society.
