The entertainment editor of Nigerian Tribune Newspapers, Rotimi Ige, has
emerged winner of the maiden edition of Bigi Media Idol, organised by the Bigi
premium brand, a product of Rite Foods Limited.
The event was organised to formally announce Rite Foods’ Bigi brand as the
sponsor of the Nigerian Idol, the international musical star discovery platform.
Ige, outwitted two other contestants to secure the grand prize of two hundred
and fifty thousand naira and 10 packs of Bigi products, at the show held at the
Radisson Hotel (Old Protea Hotel), Issac John Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, on
Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
It was an evening of fun and display of exceptional talents and entertainment,
with content drivers in music, lifestyle, entertainment and arts, as well as online
publishers and bloggers in attendance. They were all thrilled with the
excitement of the show.
It was a moment of euphoria as the audience showered accolades on Rite Foods
for its outstanding role in promoting talents in Nigeria.
While the winner smiled home with the grand prize, the first runner-up, Osigbe
Blessing of High Society Magazine, an online platform, received the prize of
One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, followed by the second runner-up,
Funsho Arogundade, Publisher of PM Express, with the prize of One Hundred
Thousand Naira. Also, seven other participants went home with the sum of fifty thousand as consolation prizes.
Igein his first appearance, mesmerised the judges and audience by his sterling
performance with the song “Olufunmi” by Style Plus, while Osigbe sang a
popular West Life music. This was followed by Arogundade, who performed
“Ade-Ori Okin” by WasiuAyinde.
Before the finale, 10 contestants were chosen by the judges to perform on stage
with the beautiful microphones designed with the Bigi brands, another exciting
feature that made the event more colourful.
The number was trimmed to five after the first performance, and then to three,
where Ige, Osigbe and Arogundadecontested vigorously for the winning prize.At the last stage of the contest, Ige, with his tuneful voice, outsmart others
with the song “African Queen” by 2Face.
The contest which was the first of its kind in Nigeria, was aimed at extending
the talent discovery platform of the Nigerian Idol to content drivers in order for
them to appreciate the painstaking efforts that usually go with the discovery of
talents through the platform.
The activities that heralded the event were delightful, as the audience were
amazed at such excellent programme and were over-the-moon with the effort
made by Rite Foods Limited for taking entertainment to an enviable height.
In his speech, the Managing Director of Rite Foods Limited, Mr. Seleem
Adegunwa, said the initiative was the company’s resolve in promoting musical
talent in the media, and also in engaging them on the uniqueness of the Nigerian
Idol, a music reality show, sponsored by the Bigi brand.
