Sir what is MAAN all about?

MAAN simply means Music Advertisement Association of Nigeria.

How did you get into music promotion?

Have been in the music promotion industry since 1992

Which state are you from and where were you born?

I am a Lagosian and I was born here in Lagos I did my primary school in Igbosere Primary School in Victoria Island and from there I went to Kuramo College at Victoria Island,I finished in the year 1988 and since then I have worked with some companies and right now with MAAN Lagos State Chapter.

Describe your kind of person?

Dekunz, as I am called. I am a perfect gentleman, black and shinning, happy and loving person.

How did you get the acclaimed position as MAAN Governor Lagos State Chapter?

It’s a long story and it wasn’t an easy journey at all because we were four that contested for the post but I thank God that I came first aside that I was the former deputy governor of the association before I became the governor.

As the present governor of MAAN Lagos State Chapter what are your basic responsibility?

I am to manage the affairs of MAAN properly and I don’t have any problem with this because I am already into the system even before I became the Governor.

What the relationship of MAAN Lagos State Chapter and the Lagos State Government?

MAAN Lagos State Chapter and Lagos State Government have a cordial relationship and we are registered with Lagos State Art and Culture.

What are the basic problems MAAN encounters?

We have agreed to make downloading music easy and accessible.

Your members complained of repackaging titles and host marketers operating without the consent of MAAN, what is your take?

Yes, it’s true my members complained and because of that; we summoned one of the marketers involved, to clear himself. He said he didn’t repackage anybody’s work but his, he is a member of MAAN. He knows the rules and regulation of the Association aside that he has also contested for the post of governor before.

 Again on the ghost marketers, is it a problem to MAAN?

Yes, of course, because it’s piracy, we have been fighting it and it is not only what MAAN can do, we need the label owners and music artiste to  join hands  with us so that we can eradicate it and finally we need the intervention of the government and the copyright commission. We alone can’t really fight it so we need other forces to cooperate with us and fight it to the core.

Any goodwill message to upcoming music promoters?

Yes, the upcoming music promoters should come out and register with MAAN, we have MAAN in every area and district in Lagos State
