ELDEE BETRAY SHAYMAN IN THE CONTRACT
It is no longer news that top Nigerian renowned
song writer, rapper, Producer and Architect Lanre Dabiri, better known by his
stage name ElDee, recently signed Eva Alordiah as the Rap First Lady to the
new-look Trybe Records 2.0, however what is news is the untold story of how the
record label owner of Trybe Records secured the deal that gave him a turning
point. According to information reaching us from sources, it was actually
shayman a one of the recording artistes on his label that introduced him to a
successful business man who happens to be an acquaintance of Shayman. According
to our sources, the Businessman based in South Africa had approached Shayman
indicating his interest to invest in the
Nigerian music industry with a special preference in Eldee based on his
impressive antecedents. In view of this Shayman approached Eldee but insists
that the rapper must sign him on as a recording act on the label as part of his
own gain in the largesse. This was evident as Eldee da don went a step further in making live comfortable
for artistes signed under his record label by providing a house for his
artistes in an expensive apartment in Lekki, Lagos, and splashed a 14million
naira Cadillac Escalade Limousine for the artistes.
However feelers reaching us hint that another side of Eldee which is hidden to his fans is the stingy part of him. Some quarters believes that Eldee wasn’t really fair to Shayman judging from the state of the artiste. Some believe that he should reward him beyond the level of being his artiste; People wonder how his acts will sort themselves out individually when each of them wants to go out. People ask if they will have to drive out the Limo personally whenever each of them has an outing. A reliable source also drew our attention to the fact that a remarkable brand like Eldee and his Trybes record doesn’t have a website rather what they have is a wordpress account. “Imagine with all the money that someone like him have hes got just a blog, someone who bought a house in Lekki, demolished and rebuilt it finds it hard to get a website which could be as cheap as 150k” a source stressed.

Eldee born May 23 1977 was raised in Kaduna, a city in Northern Nigeria, In 1998, he and his high school friend “Kaboom” teamed up with “Freestyle”, to form the group Trybesmen , which popularized the music genre Afro-hip hop/Afro-pop. Subsequently, eLDee founded his own independent label (Trybe Records) to support the group. They had two hit singles in 1999; “Trybal Marks” and “Shake Bodi”. Trybesmen’s debut album was released shortly afterward, titled L.A.G. Style. His resume not only brags about his work as an artist, producer and video director, but also as an interactive media genius. His business resume boasts of clients like CNN, D3 Publishing, Hines, Accenture, Andersen, Kimberly Clark, Naruto, Primedia, NBA, UPS, Cartoon Network, Consumer Source, Warner Bros, just to name a few of the fortune 500 companies he has had the opportunity to design and develop for with an Atlanta based firm. eLDee and his group of colleagues have received numerous national and international awards for design and advertising media campaigns.
His recording label Trybe Records recently unveiled six artistes with two albums to its credit. The label has developed artists such as Sasha, who won the Kora’s Most Promising Artist Award in 2004, 2Shots, Lequse, olaDele, Timi, and Sid, who is now a member of the Mavin record Label.
The Multi-talented Nigerian music star, ElDee (Lanre Dabiri) and his long-term partner, Dolapo Latinwo-Belo got married in November 2008 and were blessed with a daughter shortly thereafter. The couple have been together for about a decade. They started dating during their days as students of the University of Lagos where Eldee is a graduate of Architecture and Dolapo studied Urban & Regional Planning. Distance also didn’t deter them as over the past few years, eLDee was based in Atlanta, USA while Dolapo was based in the United Kingdom.
